We invite you to help us reach a higher plateau with your next order.
Having been in the business for over thirty years, we can lay claim to the successful
rebuilding of more than 95 percent of our customer's machine components that
were brought to us for assessment. We accomplished this through precision grinding,
chrome plating or thermal spraying the worn surfaces of the part.
Precision Rolls' uniqueness comes from its employee's vast knowledge of reclaiming
rolls and other machine components employed in virtually any industrial application.
Quick Turnaround
The refurbishing in addition to being less expensive than the new part, can
be accomplished in a fraction of the time required to manufacture the part.
Time savings result from the material acquisition and fabrication/machining
time necessary for the making of the new part.
Harder Surfaces
With our onsite chrome plating and thermal spraying capabilities we can assure
you that the re-manufactured (re-conditioned) part will have a harder surface
for even greater extended wear resistance than when the part was originally
manufactured.
From our many years of development, Precision Rolls is able to provide specialized
chrome plated finishes including KRODON COATINGS from #1 to #5, matte chrome,
post plated blast coatings as well as ground, polished and super finished surfaces.
Chill/Cooling Rolls Re-Shelling
In addition to all surface repair work available at Precision Rolls, our experience
craftsmen have developed the specialized techniques needed to re-shell an undersized,
double walled, cooling roll.
This service allows you to save on the material and fabrication costs by re-using the inner shell and flight assembly.
To reduce future corrosion wear we can epoxy paint or electroless nickel plate all exposed parts of the cooling roll.
For wear, buildup of surfaces, rust prevention or chemical resistance (and superior
friction qualities), hard chrome electroplating from 1" to 50" diameters
(internal and external) is the right cost-control answer.
Chromium plating for small or large parts (over a wide variety of metals, including
cast iron, steel, stainless steel, copper and aluminum) satisfies the most demanding
requirements for durability (up to 70 Rockwell C) as compared with heat treating.
Up to a 60% SAVINGS
Most often, the refurbishing of a worn part with hard chromium plating can save
you up to 60% as compared to the cost of a new part and provides durability
that will equal or exceed that of the new part.
For a cost effective solution and an ultra hard surface, chromium is in a class
by itself.
Among the parts most often rescued from the scrap pile are hydraulic pistons,
cylinders, rolls (both faces and journals), dies, molds, crankshafts, and other
parts that weren't machined properly.
.

Plating is an Art
We recognize the importance of cleaning prior to metal coating in our plating
process. To achieve the required level of cleanliness most parts will be preblasted
in our 20 foot blasting room.
To ensure proper bonding and a superior, wear resistant surface, Chromium must
be skillfully impregnated in the metal pores.
Plating is an art that benefits from our extensive, in-house expertise in metallurgy,
metalworking and plating. We are fully capable of eliminating problems of distortion,
offering dimensionally stability and durability characteristics.
For tools and dies, our chrome coatings prolong life and provides improved working
efficiencies.
.
Our electroplating services are called upon by leading industries, including:
- Plastics and Converting
- Steel
- Metal Service Centers
- Aluminum
- Wallpaper
- Electrical
- Pulp and Paper
- Corrugating and Container
.
Plating is a Science (Too!)
We recognize that technology is constantly evolving and this holds true for
hard chrome plating.
To ensure that our company stays current, we employ both standard chrome and
high efficiency chrome baths.
This combination allows us to provide the most superior coating available on
every job and the most cost effective solutions in the industry today.
.
Large surface areas as well as small parts are readily resurfaced and returned
to operation promptly through application of our company's thermal spraying
system.
Spray coating is a cost-effective alternative in the reconditioning of existing
components especially those that are exposed to severe weather and chemically
corrosive environments.
Thermal spraying can be performed utilizing powders or solid wires with heat
being produced from an electric power source (arc) or combustible gases (oxy
/ fuel).
Arc spraying offers rapid application of corrosion and wear-resistant coatings
in a thermo-mechanical bonding process. Droplets of molten material are propelled
against a workpiece. They flatten, coalesce and cool into a hard, durable matrix,
which may be as much as a half inch thick for rebuilding purposes.
Time and Cost Benefits
Among the several benefits of thermal spraying are: the prevention of pickup
and galling; superior gripping characteristics; major reductions in fabrication
time and replacement costs.
A typical application is roughing up bar mill gripper rolls used for hot slab
transfer in a steel plant.
Base materials suited to thermal spraying include tool steel, mild steel, aluminum,
zinc, bronze and stainless steel. Coating materials for workpieces include aluminum,
aluminum bronze, copper, bronze, carbon steel, stainless steels, zinc and zinc
aluminum.
We also offer state-of-the-art Powder Spray Technology for applying a wide range
of exotic metal composites.
Both plasma and HVOF systems are available to meet your specific coating requirements.
State-of-the-Art Equipment
The company offers a complete line of state-of-the-art equipment from arc systems
to high velocity powder systems.

Quality Philosophy
Our company believes that the best product can be manufactured by empowering
skilled personnel with the job of making the part right.
This does not mean that a final inspection is not conducted, but rather the final inspection only certifies the accuracy that our craftsmen have attained.
The checks and balances employed by our company during the in process manufacturing of the roll(s) assures that the part is made right- the first time.
The company works to a quality monitoring system that meets and exceeds ISO 9000 requirements from mill certification to final hardness inspection and case depth.
Precision Rolls will provide certificates of compliance for every roll produced.
.
Exacting Tolerances
Our company monitors the condition of micrometers employed in the manufacturing
process.
This is a large task requiring dedication by the Quality Assurance department, with hundreds of micrometers varying from less than 1" (25mm) to 60" (1500mm) in service.
From this ongoing monitoring and control, the company is capable of standing
behind its slogan - "Our name is your Guarantee".
Independent Testing
Where independent testing of the roll or part is required, our company has a
complete complement of third party technicians available for inspection utilizing
Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiographic Testing (x-ray), Magnetic Particle (Mag
Particle).
