Thermal Spraying

Thermal Spraying

Large surface areas as well as small parts are readily resurfaced and returned to operation promptly through application of our company’s thermal spraying system.

Spray coating is a cost-effective alternative in the reconditioning of existing components especially those that are exposed to severe weather and chemically corrosive environments.

Thermal spraying can be performed utilizing powders or solid wires with heat being produced from an electric power source (arc) or combustible gases (oxy / fuel).

Arc spraying offers rapid application of corrosion and wear-resistant coatings in a thermo-mechanical bonding process. Droplets of molten material are propelled against a workpiece. They flatten, coalesce and cool into a hard, durable matrix, which may be as much as a half inch thick for rebuilding purposes.

Powder Spray Technology

We also offer state-of-the-art Powder Spray Technology for applying a wide range of exotic metal composites.

Both plasma and HVOF systems are available to meet your specific coating requirements.

State-of-the-Art Equipment

The company offers a complete line of state-of-the-art equipment from arc systems to high velocity powder systems.

Time and Cost Benefits

Among the several benefits of thermal spraying are: the prevention of pickup and galling; superior gripping characteristics; major reductions in fabrication time and replacement costs.

A typical application is roughing up bar mill gripper rolls used for hot billet slab transfer in a steel plant.

Base materials suited to thermal spraying include tool steel, mild steel, aluminum, zinc, bronze and stainless steel. Coating materials for workpieces include aluminum, aluminum bronze, copper, bronze, carbon steel, stainless steels – both 300 and 400 series, zinc and zinc aluminum.
